Looking for Car Performance and Fuel Economy?

If you are looking for car performance, but also want fuel economy, then I’ve found the answer for your Chevy Cavalier Z-24!

I’m sure you’ve thought of maybe changing your engine over to a hybrid style engine or something completely green, but wondered about how much power you’ll be able to get and the performance out of your vehicle?

CarPerformanceWell, have you thought of installing a performance chip?

A performance chip will safely increase your power and output in your car and they make them specifically for Chevrolet cars too, like your Cavalier Z24.

The best thing is, you’ll get more durability too…Plus, they promise to be easy to install…

So, if you’re looking for an Electronic Supercharger, you’re well on your way to better car performance and better fuel economy out of your Z24, baby!!!

I just love these cars – they are so sporty, so it’s so easy to gear your “pimping” towards a more sporty looking, and performing, vehicle!

Lightweight Hoods for Chevy Cavalier Z-24

If you want to soup up your Z24 ride, you might want to lighten it’s load.

The hood of a Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 is quite heavy – believe me…

…We’ve removed it to paint it properly before and it took my dad and my husband to carry it.

If you want your car to be fast, this might be one of the first things you do.

We’re not sure exactly what kind of hood we will replace it with yet or what kind of material it will be.

I’ve seen those clear hoods before and they are neat because you can see right through them and you’re able to check out the cool engine underneath.

However, that won’t look as

White Powdered Rims on the Z-24

Bling Bling RimsWell, our back tires on Ruby keep going flat in the driveway within 1 day now…

…Ruby’s engine doesn’t actually start anymore when summoned! LOL…

That’s okay because we’re going to work on her and Pimp That Z-24!

Looking at the wheels/rims that are on our Cavalier Z-24 now, they’ve been through the ringer – well, she is a 1990.

Many years ago, we thought about replacing the wheels with white powdered sports rims and I think we’re still leaning in that direction.

I think it will give Ruby a kick and some sporty style we crave for her.

What do you guys think?

Light Covers Are Cool on the Cavalier Z-24

Okay…A little bit of a rant, but a little bit of a rave too!

I love light covers on the Cavalier Z-24…It really enhances the sporty look and makes it look so much more modern at the same time.

Problem is, many areas, in Canada and the United States, have laws against light covers. They’ll make you take them off on the spot.

Instead of sticking them permanently to your front and rear lights, use velcro stickers that velcro the light covers on tightly.

You may have to use a large, flat-headed screwdriver to coax them off, so have one handy in your trunk, but you’ll be able to get them off without any problem, and will probably only get a warning.

How Do You Think We Know That? LOL…

Ruby had dark light covers on when I originally purchased her, and I loved them. We never had a problem with having them on the vehicle until about 3 yrs later…at school in Louisiana…Where we had to pry them off with that handy screwdriver I told you about.

She just doesn’t look the same, as we never did replace them. They are actually sitting in the trunk, but we’re thinking of getting clear light covers, so as not to interfere with people seeing the lights or obstructing them from view. I think they’ll still look cool and go better with Ruby’s coloring we propose…

Be sure to check with your bylaws before you add accessories to your Cavalier Z-24…You’ll be so mad that you spent all of that money and time for it, only to have to take it off, or be harrassed by the police.

It is difficult when you’re moving, and traveling, as you could be pulled over in one state, and not the other. Often times, if they see you’re from a different state, they ignore you and let you go on about your way, but they do have the right to stop you and make you comply or give you a ticket.

Dark Red Rocks! – Cavalier Z-24 Original Color

Ruby - Dark Red ColorWe have always loved the original color of our Cavalier Z-24, Ruby…

She is, well, Ruby…LOL…Her original paint color is a Dark Red Metallic color, but may add a little bit more metallic finish into the mix…

We have decided, officially, to keep her original color and accent her with white decals, etc.

We may even go with the white powder rims that we have been looking at for so very long…

Ruby will certainly be sporty, not chromed out!

Making Ruby a Hybrid?

Well, in order to start our “pimping” of our beloved Cavalier Z-24, Ruby, we must get her running first.

Since there is quite a bit of work that needs to be done mechanically, and quite a bit that will need to be done relatively soon too, we are probably going to put in an entirely new engine…

We probably won’t be using Ruby for racing or anything like that, since we’re a little bit past that stage in our lives now, but want her to fit into our lives, and the situation at hand in the economy and the environment.

So, we have been thinking of making her a hybrid of sorts. Either running on ethanol, water, or making her completely electric…Not sure…We really love that rumble of that Chevy Engine, so we’re not sure if we’re willing to give that up to an electric vehicle…LOL

However, there is something that we can do to relieve the pressing gasoline issues and our carbon footprint.

Let us know what your opinion is, and/or your experiences with such a move by Commenting in the Comment Box Below!

Background on Our Z-24 Obsession…

My name is Kimberly…

When I went to University, I had no car for my 1st year there…in Texas…

So, before I went back to school in the fall of my 2nd year, my grandmother decided to help me get my 1st car, as it was very difficult living off-campus, playing on the Texas A&M University Softball Team, and going to school with no vehicle.

So, we started looking that summer in Ontario, Canada.

My father and I would scan the Auto-Trader, and different car lots all over our region. What did I want?

Well, I looked at Jeeps (they’re cool for a college student), Firebirds, Thunderbirds, Camaros, Z-24s…you know, cool cars! Now, this was back in 1996.

My dad wanted me to look at other cars too, like plain Cavaliers, etc. He’s a GM man, so cars that were not General Motors vehicles were TOTALLY out of the question!

It came down to it that the Cavalier Z-24 was my favorite!

Why?
Well, it was automatic, safer than some of the other sports cars, and I would get a better insurance rate. Also, I thought they just looked great at that time! The body shape was nice, the interior was great and sporty, and the bottom panel, that was grey at that time, made that car what it is.

So, now I’ve narrowed down my search, looking only for Z-24s that were in good shape…My dad always believed in buying used cars that were in stellar condition, instead of buying a new car, as they depreciate the minute you drive them off the lot!

None of them were making me too happy…They had cigarette burns in them, were in bad condition, had dents or dings, I didn’t like the color, etc. etc. etc.

I kept seeing this one Z-24 in town that would drive around that was “souped up” at that time. It had an amazing sound system, a fabulous candy-apple paint job, it was maroon (like my University colors), it had dark tinted windows, white decals on the windows, light-covers…It was rockin’, to say the least.

I always loved this car, and would see it drive around often. I guess in the back of my mind, that’s the car I was comparing the other Z-24s to.

One day, we saw that great car driving beside us, yet again, on one of our local streets, and what did I see? A For Sale sign in the window! At that moment, I knew that car was for me!

We called immediately when my father got home from work, and made
